FAQ

All of your questions, answered.

General
1. What is DNA Justice™?

DNA Justice is a 501(c)3 non-profit DNA database built to assist law enforcement agencies in the identification of unidentified human remains and perpetrators of violent crimes, such as homicides or sexual assaults.

2. How does DNA Justice assist in the identification process?

DNA Justice combines volunteered data with investigative genetic genealogy to generate investigative leads on previously unsolved cases.

3. How is DNA Justice different?

DNA Justice is the first and only not-for-profit database authorized for investigative genetic genealogy. The creation of this database is solely for the public’s benefit and is not motivated by a desire to build an asset to benefit a for-profit company or for personal enrichment. DNA Justice will never seek to profit from law enforcement or the public.

5. Can I upload multiple files using the same email address?

We currently only allow one account and DNA profile per email. However, there is a workaround if you'd like to upload a file for another person that has given their informed consent. With most email providers you can add a '+' and then additional text after your username, and emails will still be delivered to you. For example, 'janedoe@example.com' would become 'janedoe+john@example.com'. Simply sign up using a variation of your existing email address.
